Today saw the press conference to formally announce Anthony Joshua vs Joseph Parker in a heavyweight unification on March 31st at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.
The build up kicked off officially today with some interesting words back and forth from both camps. In terms of who won, both made solid points but mind games definitely have been tried by team Parker so far.
Joshua seemed to deal with them well today despite continued criticism from Parker’s promoter David Higgins.
Higgins was very matter of fact today and said:
“In most countries in the world it’s customary in sport to analyse strengths and the weaknesses of the opponent. It’s not personal and in most sports is customary, be it tennis or formula one. The media and the pundits analyse each other’s strengths and weaknesses.”
He added:
“Something that shocked us apparently in English boxing it’s not customary to do that. It came as a bit of a surprise as what we see as chinks in Anthony Joshua’s armour. There seemed to be a shock that we dare speak about these things. They were not personal. It was not personal. Statement of fact.”
Joshua and Parker both have 100% winning records and will be a first in heavyweight boxing to see two champions having a unification whom possess perfect records.
