Today there has been an Erik Skoglund update on the Swedish boxer’s health who fell ill last week following an incident in sparring.
The young fighter who only recently competed in the super-middleweight division of the World Boxing Super Series against Liverpool’s Callum Smith suffered an accident last week.
He underwent surgery last Friday to remove a bleed on his brain and his since been placed in an induced coma since the treatment was done.
Today his promoter’s Sauerland Promotions have advised of the following Erik Skoglund update:
“Erik Skoglund remains in an induced coma following the surgery he underwent last Friday to repair a bleed on the brain. Doctors have not yet attempted to wake him and will not do so until the swelling has reduced. They are hopeful this will be possible early next week. Erik remains in a serious yet stable condition. We would like to thank everyone for their messages of support, and ask that everyone continue to respect the privacy of Erik and his family during this time.”
It is understood that any further updates on Erik’s condition will come directly from his promoters, no one else.
Everyone at Boxing News and Views wishes to send our thoughts and prayers to Erik, his family and friends at this very challenging time.
