Promoter Eddie Hearn of the UK signalled his intent on conquering the US boxing business last week with his announcement of a new US headquarters for his sports promotional company, Matchroom Boxing USA.

Hearn will not have been the first man to attempt to conquer America, nor the last.

But he has good form in Europe over the past few years having put on some big shows involving the likes of Anthony Joshua and Carl Froch in considerable stadium events.

His first signing in the US is Daniel ‘Miracle Man’ Jacobs.

A former world middleweight champion and one of the best 160lbs fighters out there. His story is one of the most inspiring you’ll come across.

A man who has seen it all in and out of the ring and overcome one of the deadliest diseases of them all, cancer, to come back and become a world champion in professional boxing.

Hearn has admitted he feels that it’s an easy job for him as a promoter to tell such a story over the coming years and seems to have spotted a small gap in the US boxing market at HBO, following promoter Top Rank moving on from the company over the last year.
