Former world boxing champion turned commentator Paulie Malignaggi speaks on sparring Conor McGregor in Las Vegas.
Yesterday’s picture from Conor McGregor’s social media accounts of him posing with his hands behind his back in a spar with Paulie Malignaggi got both the worlds of boxing and MMA talking.
Speculation turned to how the spar could have went – with some seemingly being able to miraculously form a conclusion based on the single still photo.
Malignaggi himself however would not break code too much when prompted how it went. Speaking to Michael Woods of NY Fights the New Yorker said:
“Eight rounds. Good work. I can’t disclose too much but McGregor is no dummy. There’s a method to his madness. He has an idea of what he wants to do and how he wants to do it. He’s not clueless. He’s not your conventional boxer by any means but he’s capable and his power is good. Whether that can be effective is up to him. But he’s no dummy.”
An interesting takeaway from a man who tends to call it as it is.
As things stand, McGregor has just over one month to get ready for what no doubt will be the biggest challenge of his professional life.
