Nicola Adams Kicks Off Professional Career With A Win

Nicola Adams

Olympic Gold medallist Nicola Adams made a flying start to her professional career tonight in front of a passionate crowd in Manchester, England.

‘The Lioness’ came into the fight with new trainer Virgil Hunter looking to make a big statement on tonight’s undercard in the UK.

Taking on Argentinian Virginia Carcamo in a four round bout she did the job.

In a cagey first round Adams did enough on work rate more than anything to win the first round of her pro career in Manchester.

As the fight progressed, Adams scored some excellent right hands straight down the pipe and in the third, a beautiful right uppercut at mid range in particular.

Adams closed the fight out with ease to take the first professional win of her career to take the fight by a shut out decision.

A relatively straight forward win in the end. No doubt there will be some big occasions for Adams ahead. Particularly as female pro boxing seems to be starting to grow at the moment.

After the bout Adams said she was a bit too eager to get the stoppage as she wanted to entertain the crowd, but paid credit to her game opponent for hanging in there.

Adams is part of a new female pro boxing movement that includes other names like Ireland’s Katie Taylor and American Claressa Shields.

It will be interesting to see how female boxing can be grown with these three in particular in the coming years.
