Jessie Vargas Explains Hold Up With Kell Brook Unification Fight

WBO welterweight champion Jessie Vargas has spoken of his wish to face Keith ‘One Time’ Thuman in recent days following Thurman’s win over Shawn Porter, but there’s another unification match that he needs to get by first.

It’s great to see the welterweight division’s champions willing to face one another to unify the belts and following Keith Thurman and Shawn Porter’s toe to toe battle at the weekend in the US, the 147lbs weight class is really starting to come alive again and has definitely moved on from the post Mayweather and Pacquiao era.

However, there has been a snag in the negotiations between Vargas and Britain’s IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook, where talks initially emerged recently when Vargas had revealed that the fight was virtually agreed.

Now however Vargas has said things have changed and that he is waiting for Brook to sign his side of the deal:

I signed my part of the deal a month ago but things have changed and I want to update and apologize to my fans. The date for my next fight has been changed do to the fact that Brook is having trouble signing his end of the deal. Thank you for your support and I will keep you informed. #teamvargas @dcblackkobra #wbo #unification #fight #boxing @real_water
