Ali was a larger than life character and personality but possessed that rare gift of always still having the common touch, no matter how big or famous he became.
Renowned actor Carl Weathers from the Rocky movie series who played the character Apollo Creed remembered one such moment, where Muhammad Ali came out of the blew to him one day and ran over to him saying:
“One time in Beverly Hills, I was sitting outside a restaurant and Ali was coming down the street and had a group of people around him…and they look over where I’m sitting and Ali goes ‘Apollo Creed!”
He added:
“Then all of a sudden, there is Muhammad and I standing on the sidewalk throwing punches. It was so bizarre. It was all just in good fun, of course.”
