The WBC heavyweight champion of the world came in very light at yesterday’s weigh-ins for his latest defence against Luis Ortiz and appears to be rearing to go ahead of tonight.
Deontay Wilder is a man more motivated than ever it would appear.
He’s in the press everywhere lately.
Hell-bent on getting his name out there and drumming up enough attention to what he hopes will land him a fight with Anthony Joshua later this year.
But he’s got a dangerous assignment in front of him in Luis Ortiz tonight first off.
A man if he overlooks – could easily spoil all his grand plans.
He doesn’t appear to be suffering from any pre-fight nerves mind you and has pointed out that tonight he expects it to be his seventh defence of his title:
They say 7 is a lucky number. I’ve defended my #WBCHeavyweightTitle 6 times already. That makes #LuisOrtiz lucky number 7. I already have God, power and skills on my side, and now I have luck too. I can’t lose. #WilderOrtiz #BombZquad #KINGvsKong #PBConShowtime pic.twitter.com/LZv9YyziQA

No doubt Ortiz will have something to say about that, though.
The action kicks off at around 10.15pm ET tonight in New York live on Showtime.
