Canelo Alvarez returns soon against Christian Mbilli in the middle East and as he gets ready for a trip to the Middle East, could it be his last.
Possibly. Maybe not.
There is much debate among boxing spectators on if Alvarez has the love for the sport that he once had and he has gone to strange places to train ahead of the fight soon.
He got conclusively out boxed and out fought by the smaller former pound for pound number one American Terence Crawford back in September and it remains to be seen if he is the same boxer since.
It proved to be a real dismantling at the time and he has left a lot of time since the fight to decide to come back and have another soon against Mbilli.
If he had opted to stay busy sooner, it might have been more advisable for Alvarez, he left it a long time and that is a disadvantage for him in the layoff creating a lot of ring rust for him at this point.
That Bud is obviously playing on his mind going into the Mbilli fight soon and people are going to be asking him about the fight non stop ahead of his latest appearing in the ring.
To be beating so comprehensively by such a physically smaller competitor is surely something that Mbilli, a guy that has an excellent engine and very competitive punch output usually, at the highest level, is spurred on by.
Canelo is not boxing in America or Mexico either and the thing happens in a neutral venue soon in the middle East and traditionally Canelo has never gone this far to have fights outside of America and Mexico.
Do not underestimate that either.
He’s also training in Europe in an Usyk gym that is very far from America and Mexico and Canelo is like a fish out of the pond in his training and soon, his fight environment.
There is time difference he is adjusting to that he’s never really done at the highest level of the sport at least also to factor in.
Many think his motivation is not in the place it had been either before.
Alvarez has a lot of ability still as a boxer, that does not just fade completely over night but in a sport that just one per cent can make a difference in the highest level, there are a lot of factors up for debate in him.
That said, that counts for nothing as you are only as good as your last fight in boxing.
Alvarez’ last bout has been one of the most poor performances of his career and a ghost in his mind in the Bud beating that is still fresh in his mind.
Do not totally discount Christian Mbilli.
