Despite a loss to Crawford, Canelo’s durability, power, and tactical adjustments make him a massive risk.
Bud beat him convincingly last year at this point, nearly a year ago at this stage.
Alvarez returns shortly but has been very inactive and out of the ring all the time since then, a full year nearly since last September already.
That said, he is still Canelo. Not long ago he had been a pound for pound top dog in boxing, some things to note here;

- His durability makes him a threat to anyone; his losses have come to elite boxers, not brawlers.
- Admits he fought too fast against Crawford and knows how to adjust.
- Already targeting dangerous pressure-fighter Mbilli soon, showing no fear after defeat.
- Crawford loss has motivated him; he wants an immediate rematch.
- Crawford controlled the fight with his jab, an area Canelo can adjust to.
- Gas tank faded late, but experience prevents him from being completely dominated.
- Bounced back from losses to Mayweather and Bivol before–he adapts.
- Even when outboxed, he kept Crawford cautious and avoided a knockout.
- Legacy secure; he’s focused on regaining his status at the highest level.
If he loses to Mbilli bad then yeah, his legacy is a bit tainted.
Some think he is done at the highest level of boxing but he still has huge ability in technical boxing and massive experience as a fighter also.
Maybe do not underestimate him completely, he is all over the place lately, is Canelo Alvarez.
But if he still has the eye of the tiger, still dangerous and still possibly a force in the sport.
Canelo remains the biggest name in boxing in terms of star and PPV needle moving ability, at least for the moment.
