Liam Paro questions Teofimo Lopez’s punching power at welterweight after his title win.
He doesn’t think he has any pop at 147 pounds and going off that Rolly victory at the Saturday night just gone, he is right.
Rolly Romero had little marks on his face, Lopez had been bust up after their fight, a close majority points decision victory for Lopez.
Some notes on Australian champion Paro saying Lopez does not punch at the division;
- Paro flat-out says Lopez has no knockout power at 147
- Lopez hasn’t KO’d anyone since 2022
- At 140, he stopped hurting opponents—147 is worse
- Against Romero, he threw volume, not power
- Landed a career-high 62 jabs but couldn’t put Romero away
- Survived Romero’s biggest shots but never returned the favor
- He’s boxing smarter because he can’t bully bigger guys
- Even Kambosos ate his best shots at 135 and survived
- “The Takeover” is now a points fighter, not a finisher
- Paro sees this and believes he’s ripe for the taking
Teofimo Lopez had some heart and guts but his skill and his pop in his punch had not been there at the division of 147 pounds.
Better finishers and more busy punchers in terms of volume give him big problems, no doubt about it.
