Table-Banging Desperation Teofimo Lopez Senior is Cracking Under Pressure

Teofimo Lopez Sr. lost it at the final presser — banging tables, admitting blame. After a disastrous corner performance in the Shakur fight, he’s fighting for his job as much as his son is fighting for a belt.

Then again, not his fault, his son has thrown him under the bus lately since the Shakur Stevenson UD landslide points defeat earlier this year.

A short time ago Lopez Sr started banging tables and going mad, clearly the pressure is getting to him.

He said he had done drugs before the Shakur Stevenson fight due to the pressure but this looks next level pressure a short time ago.

Some thoughts on this;

  • Banged his hands on the table in pure desperation
  • His yelling is a bad sign for their preparation on Saturday for Rolly
  • Was checked out during Stevenson camp some claimed, Lopez Jr more at fault though
  • One more loss and his job is gone some are saying, again, his son more at fault there if that is the case
  • Banging tables screams insecurity, not leadership
  • He’s fighting for his own career as much as his son’s some are saying

You get the sense that Lopez senior has not had the appropriate treatment from his son in this fight or the Shakur Stevenson fight.

A man that helped him get to huge highs in his career some years ago, the Lomachenko victory, becoming a champion in boxing in the first place.

His pops not only helped him get started but had his best interests for him and still does.

To provoke him to the point that he is at clearly at the moment, dealing in stress that looks more than the Shakur Stevenson fight, speaks to the character, or lack there of, of Teofimo Lopez Jr only.

Not the father.

This is professional boxing and the fight game.

This plays into his hands all this mayhem, trust us, for Rolly, that is.

He can use this to his advantage if he is intelligent about it.

Advantage, again, Rolly Romero.
