Corner Clash: Teofimo Sr.'s Emotional Chaos vs. Salas's Cold Precision — Who Wins Saturday?

Teofimo Lopez Sr. brings volatile father-son drama and zero tactical advice. Rolly Romero’s trainer Ismael Salas brings Cuban mastery and calm. One corner is a minefield — the other is a machine.

That said, a short time ago at the final press conference for the fight ahead of Saturday the trainers exchanged some lively remarks to one another.

Salas broke his usual mold a little bit from his usual calm exterior but in general, there is a clash of personalities going on in the coaching teams also.

Some notes on this for those not familiar in the camp and training set ups of both boxers’ head coaches;

  • Teofimo Lopez Sr. is emotional and volatile — blames everyone else, offers no tactics
  • Ismael Salas is calm and legendary — trained Rigondeaux, Gamboa, and champions
  • Lopez Jr claimed Lopez Sr. gave zero useful advice during Shakur fight — just yelled about power some said but maybe Lopez Jr did not listen also
  • Salas builds precision and patience — drilled Romero after the Tank loss
  • Teofimo claimed his dad “couldn’t have cared less” during Stevenson camp
  • Salas and Romero have chemistry like peanut butter and jelly some claim
  • Lopez Sr. is chaotic and personal sometimes but it is usually to build a fight — called Rolly a “fake” friend
  • Salas is cold, professional, and tactical
  • One corner is a father-son emotional minefield
  • The other is a seasoned, championship-level operation

This is something that Rolly Romero might be able to use as another advantage to him over Teofimo Lopez again.

Teofimo Lopez vs Romero is only around the corner at this point — bring it on.
