His fight outside the ring ended in recent days but Prichard Colon how did he die? The Puerto Rico boxer has passed on.

- Passed away on August 13, 2026, at age 33
- No official cause of death has been released by his family
- Suffered severe brain injuries during his October 2015 fight against Terrel Williams
- Was repeatedly hit with illegal “rabbit punches” to the back of the head during that bout
- Collapsed in his dressing room after the fight with dizziness and vomiting
- Underwent emergency brain surgery for a subdural haematoma (brain bleed)
- Remained in a coma for 221 days
- Woke up in a persistent vegetative state with severe neurological damage
- Required round-the-clock care and could not walk or talk independently for nearly 11 years
- His tragic case led to stricter boxing rules against rabbit punches, known as the “Prichard Colón Rule”
It is safe to assume that his complications from that injury lead to his death in recent days;
Some information on him for those that did not hear of him before;
- Had a decorated amateur career, winning five national titles and a gold medal at the 2010 Pan American Youth Championship before turning pro in 2013
- Had a record of 16 wins (13 by KO) before the fateful fight — and had never been knocked down until that night, when he fell twice
- The fight against Williams was his only professional loss — he was disqualified after his corner mistakenly removed his gloves, thinking the bout was over
- A month earlier, he had knocked out former champion Vivian Harris in the fourth round
- His parents filed a $50 million lawsuit in 2017 against the ringside doctor and promoters — the case was dismissed in 2019, with a judge ruling promoters weren’t responsible for selecting medical officials
- His father shared that he tried but failed to fulfill his son’s final wish: to return to Puerto Rico for a vacation before he died
