Time to Box: Things Teremoana Must Sharpen After Savage Blowout

Time to Box: 10 Things Teremoana Must Sharpen After Savage Blowout

After knocking out American DeAndre Savage in two rounds, Australian heavyweight Teremoana Teremoana (12-0, 12 KOs) must sharpen his jab, defense, footwork, and gas tank before facing elite competition like Frank Sanchez or Daniel Dubois.

He did very impressive today in knocking out American Deandre Savage but he needs to be careful moving on after today.

The highest level of professional boxing is a lot different.

Some things the Aussie big hitter can improve on in technical boxing after another big hitting knockout in the sport a short time ago;

  • Jab – Needs a sharper, more consistent jab to set up power.
  • Distance Control – Must manage range against taller, longer opponents.
  • Defense – Gets caught cleanly too often; can’t absorb shots vs. elite punchers.
  • Head Movement – Plants feet and takes punches; needs to slip more.
  • Gas Tank – Has never gone past round two; must pace himself.
  • Footwork – Relies on straight-line aggression; needs lateral movement.
  • Patience – Gets wild against weaker opponents; must stay composed.
  • High Guard – Drops hands when advancing; needs tighter defense.
  • Combinations – Hunts one big right hand; needs fluid punch sequences.
  • Adaptability – Hasn’t had to adjust mid-fight; needs experience reading styles.

For the moment he is doing everything you can ask of him.

As a heavy, he is getting in there and knocking people out.

In some form also.

Similar to Moses Itauma in the UK in some aspects but they need to step up their competition.

Both their chins need testing immediately at the highest level to see if they can become champions.
