Terence Crawford is claiming Ryan Garcia is scared to fight Shakur Stevenson but where is this coming from?
He said everyone is scared to fight Stevenson at the moment and specifically mentioned Garcia is.
But Devin Haney tried to fight him and Bill Haney, father of Devin Haney, has said they moved on to Keyshawn Davis because Stevenson did not want the fight.
Garcia is bigger, stronger and just as fast as Stevenson as well, some notes on this:
- Garcia called Shakur out immediately — pointed at him and said “Let’s go” right after his win not long ago in the ring.
- He’s publicly hungry for the fight — has said “I really want to fight Shakur bad”.
- He’s confident he wins — believes he’d be Shakur’s toughest test ever.
- He dismissed Shakur’s skill — called him “like a puppy” and not the best.
- He says Shakur is ducking him — claims Shakur is avoiding the fight.
- He has size and power — naturally bigger, hits harder, and just as fast.
- He has leverage — as the A-side, he dictates the terms.
- He has momentum — just dominated Barrios in a career-best performance.
- He’s not running from anyone — has a history of taking tough fights.
- Crawford is biased — he’s Shakur’s mentor and close friend, so his “scared” claim isn’t neutral.
Shakur Stevenson has been around Terence Crawford from the start of his pro career and the two are close.
They have sparred and Bud Crawford is maybe speaking with his heart a little more than his head here.
Shakur Stevenson has yet to even sign a fight for an opponent yet.
