Rolly Romero has made some startling claims that are alarming and point to a possible Floyd Mayweather situation possibly.
He was talking about his next upcoming fight with his fellow American boxing rival at welterweight, Teofimo Lopez.
He takes on Lopez soon and the two represent at times two of America’s more exciting current young fighters and new names in boxing in the US.
He mentioned however he is back in action because he went through around $4 million dollars already in spending.
In that of his prize money and so on — in recent times.
Maybe this is an early lesson to him in his spending habits when he is looking at Floyd Mayweather at the moment.
A former champion who is alleged to have burned through over $150 million in quick pace recently.
Romero also said the bout was one that to happen with Lopez and claimed he was friends with Lopez.
But he surely cannot be that close friends with him if the two are boxing rivals — at the end of the day.
Any perceived friendship between the two will go out the window shortly however if and when they fight.
It should get properly announced soon with a press conference and so on to confirm it as happening.
It is being eyed for August 22nd in Las Vegas.
In the meantime, surely Rolly Romero will reign in those mad spending habits of so much cash in a quick time.
He only became a champion at welterweight after all last year when he defeated Ryan Garcia in 2025.
Whether Teofimo Lopez deserves the fight with Rolly — after being wiped out by Shakur Stevenson last time out for him earlier this year (in Jan 2026) is questionable.
It is a solid fight however.
You cannot knock the fight and these two can really scrap when they want to and can punch a bit too.
