Teofimo Lopez finds himself in a big fight in America soon but is coming off the back of maybe his worst fight ever.
The former champion from New York was taken apart by Newark’s Shakur Stevenson back in January at this stage on points.
Losing a wide unanimous decision in a lobsided fight he was never actually in from start to finish.
He is moving up to take on rival and fellow US big name Rolando Romero next on August 22nd at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
It is a strange one in many thinks Rolando Romero has the beating of Lopez.
Others think Lopez could beat Romero.
But does Teofimo Lopez deserve to be in such a big fight coming off the back of being obliterated completely in his last fight?
And only to blame the loss on his father and former trainer whom he has since split with?
Then saying he can’t self motivate himself and needs people on his team to do that for him?
After giving it the big one in terms of pre-fight talk and big speel going into the Shakur Stevenson fight only to be wiped out?
We would say no but look, boxing can use him as a big name in another big fight and this is another big fight with Rolly Romero.
Two American boxers who are known in the States, can be in solid scraps and can talk a whole pile of trash before fights.
Rolly can punch and is usually in entertaining fights and Teofimo Lopez has ability when his head is focused on boxing.
But that did not look the case in the Shakur Stevenson fight at all.
