Abdullah Mason on if Xander Zayas quit vs Jaron Ennis

Abdullah Mason returns to action in boxing this weekend and was a keen spectator of the recent Jaron Ennis vs Xander Zayas fight.

A bout last weekend that saw Ennis knock Zayas out in but really got the crowd going with action throughout before the 7th round stoppage.

Most people believe Zayas, the loser in the fight, actually came away as a winner as well.

Due to the great fight he put on.

Strangely though a small number are accusing him of quitting at a point in the fight.

22-year-old lightweight champion Abdullah Mason from Ohio disagreed with that sentiment however. Strongly.

He mentioned just because Zayas took a knee in the fight does not mean he quit and he was in the fight and showed solid fundamentals.

He added it was a smart decision to take the knee as Boots was landing combinations and the corner may have waved it off even.

For context — Abdullah Mason is the youngest champion in boxing at the moment and even with the belts not as important anymore — he is still one of the best young boxers in the world.

So Mason knows what he is talking about despite his young age and Zayas is young as well at just 23.

People forget that.

Xander Zayas was one of boxing’s youngest champions at only 23 up until last weekend.

Who knows who he fights next but his stock went up.

Boxer Abdullah Mason returns to the ring this weekend in live US boxing action taking on fellow American and undefeated Adam Bell in Ohio on Saturday night on the 4th of July in the USA.
