Albert Bell coy about sparring Abdullah Mason before they fight

Albert Bell is an undefeated American boxer that not many know about but is in a big fight this weekend on July 4th with Abdullah Mason.

Bell takes on Mason in the lightweight division this weekend in a great scrap in Ohio in live boxing in America on Saturday night.

Ahead of the fight he has been bringing up sparring stories with Abdullah Mason in fact.

This happens occasionally in boxing when fighters spar then fight for real, and, it is never in the best of form they talk about sparring.

As sparring is sparring and is best left in the boxing gym.

It was put out there previously that he had hurt Abdullah Mason previously when they sparred.

But when asked about it this week on fight week he played that down and said it was more about the opportunity why he took the fight.

Not how they sparred when they did spar.

More about the opportunity to fight — who in his view — in Mason is the best lightweight in the world at the moment.

That is questionable though.

The fight is a good one at any rate — Mason vs Bell.

Albert Bell is 33-years-old and is 28-0-9KO so has more experience as a professional than Mason at this point.

Not the biggest of hitters but a capable boxer when on form.

This represents by far the biggest step up in terms of names on his resume though.

Some might say Artur Bell’s record is a bit padded and you know, it might be.

Bell had a win over Jonathan Romero back in 2024 but this is only his fourth fight in three years this weekend basically.

Lightweight Abdullah Mason is 20-0-17KO and is a big hitter and has being way more active in recent times.

This is Mason’s 10th fight in a row since February 2024 alone.

Alas, young boxer Abdullah Mason is ready for a big occasion like this at the weekend on 4th of July.

As he has even saved big cards in the US in recent years as well.

All in all, a great 4th of July weekend ahead in the US this year for boxing with this one.
