Tyson Fury goes for a surprise opponent next this summer

Tyson Fury has gone for a strange choice in opponent next up this summer in 2026 and speaks to his lack of confidence at the moment in boxing.

Fury had the comeback win recent in April in his Netflix comeback but looked terrible.

He won on UD against Arslanbek Makhmudov on April 11th at a soccer stadium in the UK.

But he was far from his best and was overweight and looked sluggish, his ability was not on form on the night as well.

The jab was poor and his punches were wide.

Now he is set to face Pole and perennial fringe contender Mariusz Wach in Thailand on July 24th.

Good for boxing’s continued expansion into Asia and the East at least, all be it a nothing fight.

Wach of Poland has fought some good names at times over the years but he is in shockingly bad form.

He has lost eleven of his last nineteen fights in professional boxing going back to 2016.

There is nothing Fury will gain or learn from this at all.

Supposedly this is a warm-up fight for the Anthony Joshua bout later in the year but who knows if that even happens.

Tyson Fury has not been himself at all lately. Who knows, maybe he is back on the excessive alcohol even at the moment.

He clearly does not believe in himself taking this terrible standard of opponent next up.

His last fight with Arslanbek Makhmudov showed Fury is far from his best earlier this year.

But this goes even further.

He is a long way from his best if he is taking on people like Wach.

Wach finished his time as a contender in boxing a long time ago.

Even fighting someone like Jarrell Miller would have been better than this for Fury.
