Lamont Roach is getting ready for his latest challenge in boxing and he can hardly be accused of not taking it seriously.
Unlike his fellow American boxing rival Gervonta Tank Davis, Lamont Roach does not baloon up in weight like him.
The last time Davis fought was in fact against Roach but Roach has stayed more busy and has continued to look for big fights.
A draw since then with Isaac Pitbull Cruz of Mexico was unlucky for him maybe but right now he is weighing 148.2 pounds at the moment at his walking around weight.
Training in LA with the warm summer weather there in the US to keep his weight on point.
This shows his intent on getting back in there straight away into the boxing ring.
Two draws is very rare at the highest level of professional boxing and his next fight later this summer with William Yepeda offers a chance to get rid of those.
The fight is at 147 pounds (welterweight) on August 1st so the fact Lamont Roach is basically on weight this early speaks volumes.
His motivation and dedication is clear.
William Zepeda is a dangerous foe for him and there are no guarantees for him in that fight.
Zepeda is easily one of the best Mexican boxers of today’s times and gave Shakur Stevenson some real problems when they fought not long ago.
He is the typical Mexican pressure fighter who comes forward relentlessly but he can box a bit too.
This is a strong gauge as to where Lamont Roach is currently at as Shakur Stevenson is a rival of both.
Roach is more a boxer type but has a bit of fight in him as well when he needs to.
You would expect Roach to be going over the William Zepeda vs Shakur Stevenson fight footage right now to really look into what sort of game plan he needs.
He will look to box him we think as Zepeda might be one of the best pressure fighters in the game when he is on.
Roach does not want to fight Zepeda at his own game like that on the inside, he might try to keep it more long at mid range or longer distance.
Roach does have a good jab when he wants to use it and the fact he is so light at the moment walking around tells us he is taking things very seriously.

Who knows how the fight will go for Lamont Roach next but at least he is razor focused at the moment.
