Jai Opetaia and David Benavidez are in a situation at the moment where they have the say and not some others.
As regards their next choice of opponent that is.
The reason boxing is coming back to the masses in popularity worldwide is due to the fights been great the last year or so.
That’s why.
Now, a boxing belt organization has apparently ‘ordered’ (that will fall flat on its face) a fighter in the cruiserweight division to take on Jai Opetaia.
A boxer who no one outside of boxing has heard of and it doesn’t represent of interest to the consumer compared to a big fight with someone like David Benavidez or other big names.
They are trying to do similar with David Benavidez at the moment as well.
The reality is not only is no one listening to the boxing belt organizations anymore, boxers are deciding to vacate their belts and not pay their rip off sanctioning fees more and more all the time.
David Benavidez and Jai Opetaia can easily do this as well.
The only opinion that matters is boxing’s.
Not the now finished boxing belt organizations.
That fact will never change now.
Who knows what fights David Benavidez and Opetaia will be in next but they don’t have to do anything what those boxing belt organizations say.
Nor does any high level professional boxer, prospect, contender or world champion in any country worldwide in the sport.
Those days of the boxing sanctioning bodies are gone now.
They are never coming back either.
