We take a look at the Omari Jones fight style ahead of his latest fight in boxing as he returns in Houston in Texas.
The saying goes styles make fights in boxing. And mostly, not always, it has merit to it.
But a class fighter no matter what style he has can beat a fighter with any style if he is a better boxer, better prepared and on the night delivers a better performance.
Omari Jones has shown a bit of class as an amateur and pro since he turned pro in recent times and returns this weekend.
For those new to boxing, some notes on how he fights a bit:
- Tall orthodox fighter with strong boxing foundation from amateur days.
- Uses reach and jab to control distance effectively.
- Power developing with multiple early knockouts in pro career.
- Athletic and sharp, capitalizing on amateur pedigree.
- Aggressive when opportunities arise. Looks good finisher so far.
- Focus on clean punching and ring generalship.
- Adapting amateur skills to professional pressure fights.
- Strong fundamentals in footwork and combinations.
- Improving finishing ability at pro level.
- Style suits building toward title contention.
He is only six fights into his professional career so he might be finding his style a bit as a professional at the moment.
That can sometimes take to around 12 or 15 professional fights or so.
When a fighter finds how he wants to largely fight as a professional boxer and improves on that then, each fight, fight to fight.
As amateurs and professional boxing is very different.
His fundamentals are sharp so far which is translating to a lot of power so far.
Who knows what fights he’ll be in later in 2026 but this weekend is his next test in Houston.
Here is more on the Omari Jones fight time this weekend.
