Rick Reeno who is he and why all of a sudden is he standing between boxers at big fights like he is a promoter

Rick Reeno who is he in boxing the small guy with the boxing belts at all the big fights lately standing between boxers?

He appears to have come from the website Boxing Scene some years ago but now he appears to be involved with and working with Ring Magazine.

While the sport is taking off both websites appear to be having major problems at the moment and are in major decline.

Despite the sport of boxing taking off online worldwide and returning to the masses.

Now, Rick Reeno tonight was again at the Usyk vs Rico weigh-ins and again, he had the belts with him and a strange hat, his usual strange attire, and strangely gets between the boxers when they face off.

Some info on him there for people new to boxing:

  • CEO of The Ring Magazine
Runs the brand after Turki Alalshikh’s purchase.
  • Turki Alalshikh’s frontman
Nicknamed “Versace” by Turki and represents him at big Saudi cards.
  • Longtime boxing media figure
Founded BoxingScene.com and spent 20+ years covering the sport.
  • Distinct look
Always in dark sunglasses, fedora, and flashy clothes.
  • The belt guy
Carries The Ring championship belt on his shoulder at weigh-ins and face-offs.
  • Showed up everywhere in the last year
Became a fixture at major events like Eubank Jr vs Benn 2.
  • Public spats with Eddie Hearn
Calls out promoters at press conferences using Turki’s “no Tom & Jerry” line.
  • Not the promoter
He’s there as The Ring’s rep, not as the fight promoter.
  • Why he’s between fighters
Turki funds the shows. Reeno brings the belt, so he’s in the photo-ops.
  • Optics = authority
Holding the belt on stage makes him look like a promoter even though he’s the magazine CEO.

The Usyk vs Rico fight will take place in Egypt this weekend on Saturday night — Reeno will be there — one of the most strangest new characters at big fights in boxing.
