There wasn’t much trash talk in the final presser a short time ago other than one moment here from Amari Jones.
The US prospect boxes in a world title eliminator Friday night and steps in there with a former world champion at 160 pounds from Germany who’s only ever lost once as a professional.
Speaking ahead of the fight Jones said:
“Friday night, I am going to punish this man right here next to me. Alhamdulillah for everything. I’m going to show why Golden Boy is so high on me. I’m going to show why they are backing me like this. I’m going to prove it to everyone. On Friday, I’m going to show what I can do right there.”
He added:
“He doesn’t have anything. He reached his climax already. This is his last hope. He knows this is his last chance to do anything in his career, so he better take it serious. Your career hasn’t even started yet, and it’s going to finish.”
Amari Jones also spoke further on Gualtieri and went on to on the surface of it at least, give the impression he is full of confidence.
He is the hometown fighter here so will have the support as well, which should be an additional edge for him.
