Tyson vs Mayweather supposedly is back on all of a sudden according to some murmurings but let’s look at what is going on.
A few months ago on social media Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather made big effort to let people know about their exhibition happening at the time that was meant to take place in April in the Congo in Africa.
Not only did it not happen, they never mentioned why and it turned into a fiasco.
Mayweather in the meantime is in a situation with Netflix over a real pro boxing match and rematch with Pacman in September.
Now supposedly Mayweather vs Tyson happens as an exhibition after that, here’s what we know:
- Exhibition was set for May 30, 2026 then postponed.
- Tyson broke his right hand in training March 2026.
- Promoters target fall 2026 with venue and TV pending.
- Fight is an exhibition, not pro, with signed contracts.
- Tyson is 59, Mayweather is 49.
- Tyson lost to Jake Paul Nov 2024 by UD – his last fight in boxing.
- Mayweather last pro fight was 2017 vs McGregor.
- Mayweather has done 8 exhibitions since 2017.
- Mayweather is due to fight Pacquiao Sept 25, 2026 on Netflix. Not confirmed yet.
- Congo was early venue option for April 25 date. That became toast.
Tyson had his hand in a cast for a while and apparently the delay is because he wants to let his hand heal but they could have mentioned that months ago.
Something doesn’t add up and the two are huge names in America and boxing and should be more careful when announcing big events like that.
People in Africa will have a very close eye on both of these individuals moving forward, as will events organizers worldwide.
Who knows what fights they will be in this year — stay tuned.
Here’s how Mayweather and Tyson have earned in boxing over the years.
