Verhoeven weight advantage over Usyk how much could it be?

Verhoeven weight advantage

The Rico Verhoeven weight advantage over Usyk is very underrated and people are not really aware of it.

Skill and heart win fights in boxing but heavyweight is the only division where there’s no limit to weight or weigh in weight needed. Power counts at heavyweight if a heavier fighter leans on his smaller opponent and wears him down or if he lands a big shot it helps with knockouts.

That is surely Rico’s only hope – one lucky punch. What is the the Rico Verhoeven weight advantage over Usyk? Some notes for those unaware:

  • Verhoeven said “it’s like a 20 kilogram weight difference”.
  • Verhoeven called Usyk “a built-up cruiserweight”.
  • Verhoeven said “I’m like a naturally born heavyweight”.
  • 20 kg = 44.09 pounds.
  • Usyk won Olympic gold at heavyweight – something to be aware of as well.
  • Usyk was undisputed cruiserweight champion and moved up to heavyweight as a pro.
  • Usyk’s listed pro boxing weight has been ∼221-223 lbs for heavyweight fights.
  • Verhoeven fought at ∼265 lbs in GLORY.
  • Verhoeven said “when I land my best punch on him… he will go down”. We will see about that, though.

40 to 44 pounds is a big bit of weight to have.

It could be a little bit less on the night though as Usyk looks to have bulked up and put on weight and Rico might be a little heavier.

Difficult to say but he’ll have a big weight advantage.

Something to think about going into the Usyk vs Rico bout this weekend.
