Usyk Fury 3 still a big fight if Usyk defeats Rico

Usyk Fury 3

Why the Usyk Fury 2 fight remains a big fight despite Usyk taking on a man considered the biggest underdog of all time.

Tyson Fury possibly gave Usyk the best fights of his life in his entire career.

Nearly winning one of the them in the eyes of some.

Fury was far from his best recently in his Netflix comeback but an Usyk trilogy might inspire him to get in shape and back to some form.

Some info and background for those new to boxing for a minute to get you up to speed:

  • Tyson Fury announced retirement in January 2025 after losing twice to Oleksandr Usyk
  • Fury returned to boxing and faced Arslanbek Makhmudov on April 11, 2026
  • Fury beat Makhmudov by unanimous decision, scorecards 120-108 x2 and 119-109
  • Fury is 37 years old as of May 2026
  • Fury vs Usyk 1 was for undisputed status in May 2024
  • Fury has never held the IBF belt
  • Fury held the WBC belt from 2020 to 2024
  • Fury vs Usyk 1 generated about 1.5 million pay-per-view buys worldwide
  • Fury vs Usyk 2 generated about 1.1 million pay-per-view buys worldwide
  • Fury is ranked number 2 by The Ring at heavyweight

Basically it would be up to Usyk if he wanted to do the fight.

Fury is being linked with the Anthony Joshua fight as well at the moment, but there’s talk of a warm up fight for him before it.

Same with Joshua, before the two possibly fight later in 2026.

They both seem shaky on the fight at the moment and it isn’t confirmed yet so let’s see what happens with Usyk first this weekend against Rico.

You never know, Usyk Fury 3 may still be possible.

Who knows what fights both will be in after this weekend though.
