Deontay Wilder Power Is Gone

Deontay Wilder knockout power

The Deontay Wilder knockout power that was so legendary before has not moved in age with him.

This is strange as the power is always the last thing to go and espeically at heavyweights.

George Foreman’s knockout of Michael Moorer at 45 proof of that.

Wilder defeated Derek Chisora recently by split decision on points and landed flush many times and he went no where.

Some things to be aware of:

  • CompuBox had Chisora landing 143 of 385 at 37 percent and Wilder 125 of 341 at 37 percent
  • Chisora landed 105 power punches to Wilder’s 99
  • Chisora was dropped in round 8 and went through the ropes — Wilder lost a point for pushing
  • Chisora said if he did not come out the ropes he would have won
  • Wilder said he looked after Derek and did not want to go too hard for him
  • The fight was described as a chaotic, confused, draining brawl
  • Chisora was 42 and billed it as a retirement fight
  • Wilder landed 125 total punches with 99 power punches and scored two knockdowns that were not clean

Wilder will fight on even though he shouldn’t really.

Now Derek Chisora is talking about coming back and having a rematch with Wilder — most possibly in the US.

We think Wilder’s power and Chisora’s legs are gone and at some point if Wilder keeps fighting, he will be badly hurt.
