A Deontay Wilder rematch is something ‘Delboy’ says he is interested in coming back to boxing but he only just literally retired.
Wilder recently won a split decision on points against Chisora in their fight in the UK.
A very entertaining fight for boxing as a sport but the American and former WBC heavyweight champion was far from his best.
Same with Chisora.
They both had taken falls during the fight from not having their legs underneath them and their timing was very off technically.
It was more a slugfest then a professional boxing match.
A look at some things here on Chisora and Wilder:
- The first fight was ugly
- Both looked old and tired
- Wilder only won by split decision
- Chisora was dropped multiple times
- Both took heavy punishment
- Chisora already announced retirement
- His wife said this is the final one
- Wilder has lost most recent big fights
- Experts told both men to retire
- Neither has anything left to prove
While a Deontay Wilder rematch might sell based on the entertainment of the first fight it does not mean they should pursue it.
It may not be in the interest of either’s health at this point which should be taken into account.
Who knows what fights either will be in next.
Deontay Wilder could opt for a fight with someone like Jarrell Miller in America instead as well.
