Lamont Roach vs William Zepeda is on now and a solid little scrap that offers much entertainment for the sport of boxing.
Roach has had some controversial draws in recent years against Gervonta Davis and Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz.
It is rare to have one draw in high level pro boxing but two in a row is almost unheard of.
He will look to end that against a dangerous Mexican opponent in William Zepeda, let’s look at a few things here first:
- Lamont Roach vs William Zepeda is set for August 1
- The fight is in Vegas
- The bout is for the vacant WBC lightweight title
- Roach is WBA champion at super featherweight
- Zepeda campaigns at lightweight
- Zepeda is undefeated
- Zepeda is a southpaw volume puncher
- Roach is a counter-puncher
- Roach relies on timing and defense
- Zepeda fights on the front foot with high output
Zepeda is the more aggressive fighter of the two and being in a Mexican he brings the heat and all action style.
Roach maybe the more boxer of the two and slick counter puncher when he needs to be.
Although he can fight a bit too when he needs to.
Zepeda did well at times in there with Shakur Stevenson in recent years as well it should be said.
He is no slouch in the boxing department either.
Solid scrap.
