Daniel Dubois rematch clause Wardley – will it be activated?

Daniel Dubois rematch clause Wardley

Daniel Dubois rematch clause Wardley fight — what is the story with it and will it be in fact activated after their savage boxing match?

It does exist and it is a thing.

Like rematch clauses now apparently are in most big fight agreements but it is rare you see them activated unless a very close fight.

Daniel Dubois rematch clause Wardley fight – what is the story with it

  • It was confirmed there was a rematch clause in the contract
  • The rematch is easy to make for both Dubois and Wardley
  • Organizers called it the “best heavyweight fight they had ever put on”
  • Wardley suffered first professional defeat: now 20-1-1
  • Wardley showed “immense heart” and “refused to capitulate”
  • Fight was described as “a war” by Dubois
  • Wardley was making first WBO title defense
  • No announcement yet if rematch clause will be activated
  • Stoppage came with Wardley bleeding and eye almost closed
  • Some viewers felt fight “could have been stopped earlier”

Ultimatley, from what we can gather, Wardley does have an option to activate the rematch clause but it was a brutal fight.

One where both boxers gave their all and possibly Wardley will be taking some time out of the gym in terms of sparring after the fight to rest after that fight.

Same with Dubois.

While it is of course possible to activate it Dubois won by stoppage at the end of the day.

We don’t think it will be activated.

Dubois will be looking for fights with the likes of Usyk and others anyway.
