Mayweather Sheds More Light On May Pac 2

Mayweather sheds some new information on what is happening with May Pac 2 ahead of his latest exhibition.

Floyd Mayweather will box in an exhibition this summer in Greece.

But the May Pac 2 rematch on Netflix is what everyone expects after that in September.

Speaking at his Greece boxing exhibition press conference Mayweather said:

“Well, well, well. At this particular time, I truly believe that… I know everybody is going to want to ask questions about the Pacquiao fight. Like I said, the sport of boxing has truly changed. We have a lot of new companies, a lot of new faces, and Netflix. I truly believe that we’ll get this done. I think we’re almost at the finish line to finalize the Pacquiao fight. But a lot of things have changed in the sport of boxing, and eventually I think within the next 48 hours, the Pacquiao fight should be done.”

So, it looks as if talks are ongoing.

He’s right there is new companies and even more new companies and people coming to the sport of boxing all the time.

Out with the old and in with the new.

Here’s what maybe stalling May Pac 2 talks at the moment:

  • Fight status dispute: Netflix said pro fight Feb 23. Mayweather said Mar 28 it’s an exhibition. Pacquiao’s camp says they signed for a real fight
  • Venue lost: Sphere announced Sept 19 for Sept 19, but Eagles booked that date. Fight date/venue now “up in the air”
  • Possible venue/date change: Reports say move to MGM Grand or T-Mobile Arena, possibly August
  • Contracts + advances paid: Pacquiao CEO says Mayweather signed multiple contracts and already took advances + a loan against purse
  • April 14 deadline: Inside The Ring said Apr 14 was deadline to finalize deal
  • Mayweather tax lien: IRS filed $7.3M federal tax lien against him
  • Passport issue: IRS notified Mayweather of passport revocation, threatening travel
  • Lawsuits ongoing: Mayweather facing lawsuits that have “dented his reputation”
  • Radio silence: ESPN reported everyone involved has gone “radio silent”. Netflix hasn’t posted since Feb 25

Mayweather has a number of outside boxing issues that continue to go after him at the moment.

Whether or not he actually get in there and fights with Pacman in a professional boxing rematch remains to be seen.
