Deontay Wilder Defeats Chisora, Both Far Removed From Primes

Wilder Defeats Chisora

The former heavyweight champion got back on winning track at the weekend and showed some heart at times.

The fight was scrappy to say the least and the styles didn’t particular gel well in terms of great technical boxing, it was more a street fight from too heavyweights way past their best days.

Wilder got the nod by split decision on the scorecards in the end.

He dropped Chisora at one point in the bout and at different point, due to both of their legs being gone, both lost balance on where on the canvas in the contest as well.

Wilder was hitting down at Chisora with his wild shots that he found difficult to get off throughout but landed some and showed heart as did Chisora at times.

Wilder after the fight looked like he wanted to fight Anthony Joshua, whom has also seen his best days now, but the likes of Claressa Shields called for him to retire after the bout.

Possibly a wise decision but we think he will fight on at any rate.

The fight itself was wild at times and Chisora kept trying to use his smaller, lower sense of gravity to get underneath what Wilder was throwing.

The American setting up much with, and landing, the jab at times on Chisora.

A punch that he still has but his power wasn’t even there anymore as when he landed the right hand over the top straight down the middle, the right hand cross on Chisora, it didn’t even deck him at times.

A prime Wilder landing any of those would have certainly knocked Chisora down and knocked him out more possibly.

Derek Chisora hung up the gloves afterwards and before the fight he said he was basically f***** and who knows what happens him next.

He’s been in some entertaining fights for the sport and fans however it should be noted.

Same with Wilder.

Wilder remains a big name in America and at heavyweight and can certainly appear in big fights again but if they put him in with the likes of a young new contender like Moses Itauma for instance, he would get knocked out fast in a couple of rounds we think.

Itauma and other new contenders like Daniel Dubois and others make easy work of him now.
