Former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder is understood to be fighting undisputed heavyweight champ Usyk in 2026 but now this.
He is due to fight Usyk this June apparently in California.
Not confirmed but that is what is lined up.
Now however, a short time ago the Ring have reported he is close to finalizing a fight with Derek Chisora for April in London in the UK.
Also not confirmed.
But potentially two back to back fights in quick succession for Wilder.
Certainly, if he were to win, that will get him ready for the Usyk fight but this is heavyweight boxing and anything can happen.
Just one punch can change it overnight.
Chisora will believe in himself as able to rip up the scripts for Wilder and get that Usyk shot potentially himself.
Tyson Fury is also back in the mix soon at heavyweight — it is all happening in boxing now.
Here’s 5 facts why Chisora will believe he can beat Wilder if they fight:
He’s on a 3-fight win streak and feels unstoppable at 42.
Wilder has lost 4 of his last 6 and looks vulnerable lately.
Chisora’s non-stop pressure and iron chin can survive Wilder’s early bombs.
His trainer says Wilder would have “big problems” against his style.
Fighting in London with home crowd energy gives him a huge mental edge.
Alas, don’t write off Derek Chisora either in this one if it happens.
