The Canelo Alvarez comeback this year in 2026 is on and of course he was not going to be retiring following a defeat to Terence Crawford.
He lost to ‘Bud’ in 2025 in a super fight but only on points and only to one of the greatest boxers that ever lived.
Alvarez is still an all-time great and one of the best boxers Mexico has ever seen.
It is now being confirmed that he will return to the boxing ring in Saudi Arabia on September 12th.
It will be in Riyadh and is being billed as ‘Mexico against the world.’
Opponent to be confirmed.
Boxing World Reacts To Early Canelo 2026 Comeback Details
Here is some of the reaction so far from fans:

Alvarez is surely working hard behind the scenes in the gym at the moment.
It is not clear what weight yet but maybe middleweight at 160 pounds would suit him best.
He has shown to be much more effective at that weight previously as opposed to super-middleweight.
Not difficult for him to make either.
He is working with boxing heavyweights and the best people in his corner as well like Richard Schaefer and Turki Alalshikh so he can’t go wrong:

The previous move from the IBF to get Canelo to fight a relatively unknown boxer here has now clearly being scrapped.
