Motivation will surely not be an issue for contender Lamont Roach in the US again this year as boxing is well up and running already in 2026.
2025 was an up and down year in a sense for Roach. He arrived as a boxing star in America and worldwide but only through controversy.
The first time in early 2025 against pound for pound star Gervonta Davis also known as ‘Tank’.
He fought Davis to a draw but many thought he won, although it was very close and the fight could have went either way in truth. Davis will want to put the record
right this year in that with him.
Draw’s are so rare in boxing though. They really are. Upset defeats would be much more common than them even in professional boxing.
Lamont Roach Found Himself In One Of The Rarest Situations In Boxing Not Once, But Twice, In 2025
Heck, it seems like every week boxing products upset victories for fighters.
But then, in the same year even, in his very next fight against ‘Pitbull’ Cruz of Mexico in late 2025 he fought him as well to a draw.
A remarkable stat when you think about it. How many high level of world championship boxers in professional boxing have had back to back draws in the very same year either in world title fights or high profile fights in pro boxing?
We can’t think of any in recent times.
Rare to happen once but to happen twice in the same year back to back is almost unheard of.
Lamont Roach will want to right this wrong as well this year and get his retribution and vengeance on both those boxers.
The one everyone wants to see of course is the Gervonta Davis rematch with him — huge fight in America and worldwide.
