Not long ago German boxing was on fire and actually lead the way for some massive sporting and commercial success for boxing in the UK and in the USA.
People forget that it was the Klitschko brothers selling out stadiums in Germany in the 1990s and 2000s that got the whole stadium craze selling out going for boxing in the UK years later for Froch vs Groves and Anthony Joshua fights.
This all happened on RTl, a major network in Germany at the time.
Obviously things have moved mostly online now but another fighter to remember there was Arthur Abraham not long ago as well selling out venues and doing big numbers across Germany.
Marco Huck a bit as well but German Arthur Abraham really got things going before that, what’s more, there is loads of English=speakers in Germany with ready access to venues and some organizers in the US who have put on shows there for years.
Like Tom Loeffler in the US for instance, he has done many events in Germany over the years with the Klitschkos but there is a real opportunity now as change sweeps Europe with less of a want by the people of Europe for the EU, and countries across Europe taking back their country’s in some ways from the on her way out Ursula Von Heerden, to make boxing great again in Germany.
Let’s Make German Boxing Great Again
Traditionally a huge market for professional boxing and one, that as the sport comes into a boom time soon, must be included in the boxing surge in worldwide popularity soon.
Very important.
Also Germany is the home of commercial sporting giant Adidas as well which can be a great win-win situation for both the company and professional boxing and the nation of Germany shortly.
Professional sport has more power than it knows and in the changing, conflict times in Europe at the moment, professional sport and boxing being a sport in a class of its own when promoted right, can play a big part in a bright light of success for Germany and Europe.
Same can be rolled out across the continent of Europe of course.
Big fights like Anthony Joshua vs Paul are happening and all sorts of events and big title fights, German boxing and Germany must come along soon for boxing’s triumphant return to the pinnacle of all sport.
