Is Anthony Joshua Really That Famous In Africa

Anthony Joshua has been in Africa a lot in recent times and we have covered that on here ahead of his comeback fight against Jake Paul.

This year he went to Nigeria and elsewhere in Africa on his repair mission from his brutal knockout to Daniel Dubois last year, amid also undergoing surgery this year.

He was mobbed it appeared at times but actually if you go over the events, the events were all prearranged to begin with and there was not massive spontaneous energy that would happen if someone like a Mike Tyson walked into a town or city.

Tyson is followed worldwide in a way Joshua is not and if you go back over the footage recently, Joshua was at one point on a bike driving through a busy city in Africa in rush hour traffic himself with no security or anything, not stopped by anyone.

Is Anthony Joshua Really That Famous In Africa

The reason we bring this up is if boxing is going to do a massive event next year in Africa, don’t just rely on Joshua for it at the same time, Martin Bakole of the Congo is arguably way more popular than Joshua across the entire African continent.

If it is a much safer thing to do for governments and big companies in Africa to use Bakole as a headliner in the continent and actually to bring Western stars to Africa as well, you could bring a lot of stars from America like Ali vs Foreman from back in the day.

The same idea.

Get a heavyweight title match or at least a big heavyweight fight there like back in the day.

Joshua can be used there as well but don’t buy into the hype that he is a massive star in Africa, we tracked the numbers, he is not.

Bakole bigger in Africa than Joshua.

Fact.

As for Joshua’s next fight, he takes on Jake Paul on December 19th this month.
