Floyd and Roger Mayweather popularized pad work on YouTube and the internet and now everyone thinks they are them — they are not — far from it.
The two of them were complete once off geniuses on the pads who spent years around one another, day and night, through the middle of the night at times, for hours on end without break, literally three to four hours sometimes more flat out full power and pace on the pads.
That was achieved from knowing one another well and just the rapport and fit they had as boxer-trainer and both were former world champions as well.
Roger Mayweather wasn’t just one of the best trainers that ever lived — he was a very good world champion in his own right.
Why Some Fighters Look Amazing on Pads and Terrible in Real Fights
A huge right hand and a dagger of a jab with good sense of distance.
His sense of distance came in useful to the pad work with Mayweather, Floyd Mayweather his nephew, in the videos you see online with millions of hits on YouTube and other platforms.
Because of this, imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, and others tried to copy this but what they didn’t realize is the above two did the above with a view to using that in real actual fighting, not just in a gym.
Anything that is imitated or copied by others simply never works, that’s why many of those fighters are terrible on fight night.
