Paul vs Joshua simply could not happen in the UK it has been revealed for the following reasons in what really was a non starter there.
Well, they missed out on a shed load of money. Florida picked up the freakshow opportunity instead.
It isn’t that bad when you look at it.
But the UK didn’t think the same as Netflix (the world’s biggest streaming company, who do you think is smarter? Okay then.)
Here’s a look at the facts.
Why Paul-Joshua Couldn’t Happen in UK
British Boxing Board of Control refused to sanction the mismatch.
The BBBofC cited “significant risk to Paul’s health.”
They required psychological evaluations Paul wouldn’t complete.
UK insurance companies refused to cover the event.
Multiple British arenas pulled out over safety concerns.
The board has history of blocking extreme mismatches.
Eddie Hearn admitted “UK was never an option.”
Saudi Arabia also declined for legacy protection.
Only American commissions agreed with the weight cap rules.
This becomes the biggest fight ever blocked from UK soil.
Well, it is a crazy fight, but one that seems to have captured a lot of attention for the sport of boxing.
More new fans and more aggressive marketing of boxing is what the sport needs.
Without going totally over the top and all out madness.
This event doesn’t do this we believe.
Jake Paul is half the odds Buster Douglas was before fighting Mike Tyson in 1990.
No one had a problem putting on that event at the time.
The numbers will be off the charts for Paul vs Joshua at the end of the day.
