The UK has a unique ability to maybe more than anywhere else over the last decade or more to sell out stadiums often soccer stadiums for big boxing matches.
They are head and shoulders above all the rest of the world in doing this consistently do this more than anyone else basically.
Sure, in the US Canelo Alvarez has done this in recent years in some fights as well, he cannot be forgotten either on that.
Before the UK really got things going as well with Carl Froch and George Groves getting things going before Anthony Joshua did, don’t forget the Klitschko brothers in Germany for years sold out big stadiums in Germany for their heavyweight title fights in the 90s and early 00’s as well.
But the UK fan base is still up there for one of the most passionate and loyal fan bases to the live professional boxing product out of anywhere.
Why is this?

Why The UK Continues To Sell Out Stadiums For Boxing
Maybe a few things to note here:
The US for instance has far more sports to compete with than just professional boxing
Football is the national sport of the UK and there are soccer stadiums everywhere in the country providing easy access to event holders.
The promoters in the UK know the transport and health and safety authorities very well at this point and have become experts in the logistics of how to roll out these often complex, risky but more often than not, rewarding, lucrative and commercially optimal and sporting successes of events. Those in the US and the East are following this in countries around the world with their own authorities
in these fields.
Everyone wants to see a big stadium show in Africa but the heath and safety of the spectators must be appropriate to not cause a stampede or people dying at an event due to the crowds not being under control and so on, the UK are laser precise with this stuff.
The drinking culture in the UK is on the decline among young people in England, Scotland and Wales now but there’s still a bit of it at live events in pro sport in the UK whereby this translates to live attendance experiences for the consume, the ticket purchaser in the UK who might be from the older demographic of 40 and over and still drinks at events. This stadium boom in the UK for boxing is tied to this mentality also from their soccer fans and so on, as, most of the shows are done in soccer stadiums.
The UK will continue to do stadium shows but so will the East now as well.
Plenty of stadiums in Russia, China, India, Korea, the Middle East and Africa as well.
As always, the balance in boxing must be got right, moreover.
