Recently Carl Froch of the UK, the former super-middleweight world champion, said he wouldn’t mind stepping in for Gervonta Davis to box Jake Paul.
Following their Netflix bout falling through for now due to some brief outside the ring issues for Davis.
This comes after a litany of fights being asked for by Carl Froch in recent times against Paul and the likes of Darren Till of Liverpool.
But does Carl Froch really want to comeback after all these years?
Will he comeback?
Can he comeback?
He left the sport in a great position after going out on a high and appeared to be happy in retirement with even a new podcast ‘Froch on Fighting doing incredibly well.
Physically he trains year round and doesn’t get fat and by all accounts he doesn’t abuse things like alcohol, drugs or cigarettes.
So it would be a question of getting into a proper 3 or 4 month training camp with his old trainer or someone else to get him into actually real professional boxing
fight shape.
How A Carl Froch Comeback Still Does Big Numbers
He’s also called out Joe Calzaghe this year and out of any of them that would probably get the most interest from actually boxing fans.
The Jake Paul fight for the freak show of it would maybe do bigger numbers but it is hard to say, Froch could just be shopping around for a big fight at the same time.
Cleverly using his own podcast to market this, while also getting big numbers on the new podcast.
The fact of the matter is Froch coming back does big numbers as he is a big name in the UK and the US as well.
People forget Froch had some legendary wins over the likes of Jermain Taylor in the US against all the odds many years ago.
People in America know how good a fighter Froch is.
Let’s see what happens soon, we think Froch will at least have some sort of exhibition match as there will be little risk for him and someone likely will offer quite a lot of money for minimal risk in one of those fights.
