First Jamaican Born World Champion Boxer Dies

Some sad news has come into the sport of boxing over the weekend with the boxing world flooding the internet with respect for him.

Unfortunately one of boxing’s great warriors has passed on again, as has happened a lot lately it should be said.

Mike McCallum is recognized as the first Jamaican-born professional boxing world champion in history.

He held world titles at super-welterweight, middleweight and light-heavyweight.

He shared the ring with greats like Dublin’s Steve Collins, Donald Curry, Roy Jones, James Toney and Herol Graham.

His professional boxing record is 49-5-1-36 KO.

Rest easy champ.
