Injury-Free and Dangerous: Could Ryan Garcia look at a Gervonta Davis rematch

Injury-Free and Dangerous: Could Ryan Garcia look at a Gervonta Davis rematch

Ryan Garcia’s right hand finally looks healthy. With Gervonta Davis returning and looking for opponents, could a rematch of their 2023 grudge fight be back on the table?

Gervonta Davis is all talk though, he talks the talk and then does not sign fights to get in there.

Even though big fights are available to him immediately.

Garcia knocked out Conor Benn in the second round Saturday night but some years ago Tank Davis knocked out Garcia, some notes on this possible rematch;

  • His right hand has reportedly been problematic throughout his career
  • Davis handed Garcia his first loss in 2023 via body shot
  • Davis has been inactive since a draw in March 2025
  • Davis recently hired a new head trainer for his return
  • Davis’s team has reached out to Haney for a fight
  • Garcia vs. Davis II would be a massive pay-per-view event
  • The first fight ended with a body shot knockout
  • Davis has never fought above super lightweight
  • Weight could be a major obstacle for the rematch
  • Garcia has not mentioned Davis specifically in callouts

Garcia is up at 147 pounds these days, though, a far bigger division then Davis is used to.

This stacks the advantages in Garcia’s favor these days, also Tank has not boxed since early last year at this point.

His ring rust is real, let’s see if the crazy Gervonta Davis actually gets into a fight soon again.

Gervonta Davis knocked out Ryan Garcia and surely Garcia is interested in some vengeance also, let’s see if Tank is interested.

The money is there for him immediately to take the fight if he is.
