Danny Garcia veteran status, career wins, and why the former champion still has value at 37, at least in theory he does.
First off, he is part of the dying PBC and Al Haymon stable of former faded champions and stars.
Boxers that are aging as Premier Boxing Champions’ old guard continue to stagnate, not box regularly, sit on the shelf and and lose in many cases in the rare times they do box.
Other than Sebastian Fundora and David Benavidez, PBC and Haymon have nothing really anymore. Neither of them are household names either.
But if faded champion Danny Garcia from the US gets the eye of the tiger back he can still be in useful fights around 147 pounds or higher.
Some things to note on him briefly;
- Former two-division world champion with wins over 14 world champions
- Signature left hook and composure under pressure make him dangerous
- Known for fighting anyone and never ducking top opposition
- At 37, ring IQ and power keep him competitive with younger fighters
- Adapted across multiple weight classes against diverse styles
- Big-fight experience gives him a mental edge in hostile environments
- Still motivated by love of boxing, not just paychecks
- Moving into promotion with Swift Promotions, staying relevant
- Credible name value makes him marketable for rising stars
- Can serve as a useful gatekeeper for young contenders
Alas, Garcia does not even have a scheduled fight booked so it is unclear if he is interested in fighting.
He had been victorious last year in a not really big fight against Daniel Gonzalez in Brooklyn.
There are of course fights there immediately for him if he does.
His record in professional boxing currently reads 38-4-22 KO as of the current time.
