The numbers being put out there by no longer relevant Saudi Arabian adviser Turki Alalshikh on the Ryan Garcia vs Conor Benn ticket sales look bull crap.
To put it mildly and say the least.
No one even knows who Conor Benn is in America really outside of hardcore boxing fans.
He is claiming $6.3 million gate revenue over the first 24 hours of the events tickets going on sale.
Do not believe that for a second. It could be around a third of that in reality.
Some notes on this:
- The figure comes directly from the promoter, not an independent source.
- No ticket count was released, only a revenue total.
- Premium VIP and suite sales always sell first and inflate early revenue.
- Sales pace typically drops sharply after the initial 24-hour rush.
- No third-party ticketing platform has verified the data.
- The announcement came months before the fight, making it pure hype.
- No historical comparison to other T-Mobile Arena events was provided.
- Dynamic pricing could inflate the dollar figure without reflecting true demand.
- Secondary sources are just repeating the promoter’s social media post.
- Promoters have a long history of announcing record sales that are never independently confirmed.
Now, if that was the Ryan Garcia vs Devin Haney rematch, those numbers in the first 24 hours could have been entirely possible.
Based on the above points and research, we believe the real number could be a bit over $1 million in gate revenue.
Turki Alalshikh is a spent force in boxing and has been hardly seen in boxing lately compared to what he used to be.
He only got into boxing for a while and won’t last much longer. Saudi Arabia and Saudi Arabians all see through him at this point.
Saudi Arabia and sport in the country will move on just fine without him as well, as will boxing.
He clearly just dipped into the sport for a brief moment coming out with the absolute bull crap numbers on the above fight at the gate.
People are only mildly interested in it and purely because of Ryan Garcia, nobody in the US knows Conor Benn.
He was less than impressive against Regis Prograis in his first fight in America basically earlier this year.
That is the truth of it.
