Tim Tszyu Sends Errol Spence Into Retirement

The fight tonight in Australia between Errol Spence and Tim Tszyu proved to be a solid enough fight all things considering.

Early on the bout started off tentative with both American Spence and Tszyu landing some solid shots early on.

Tszyu mostly with the right hand and Spence with the left hand.

Spence started relatively well and connected to the body a couple of times early on with Tszyu.

Australian Tszyu displayed a high guard and solid fundamentals.

You could tell Errol Spence had been off for some time with his timing and balance not been great.

Some thought Spence was winning the fight during the contest but maybe a good observation was that both looked shells of their former selves.

That was not the Errol Spence of old nor was it the Tim Tszyu of vintage years. Both looked shot and past it.

Certainly compared to where they were, unfortunate, as boxing as a sport is doing great again but the fight delivered over all.

Tim Tszyu caught Spence with a huge uppercut in round one it should be noted as well, Spence of years ago would not get caught with such easy shots.

The fight turned into more of a brawl and slugfest as it went on though, both went into the trenches a bit down the stretch.

More inside fighting from both, both looked tired towards the end of the contest, not the greatest of stamina portrayed by either pugilist.

Both sweet science combatants continue to trade leather until the final bell and you could tell down the stretch the Errol Spence legs were gone at this point.

Tszyu landed a solid right hook in round 9 but both were very fatigued by this point.

Spence landed a solid straight left hand in round 10 but was getting tagged in return from Tszyu with some counters.

The cardio of Spence with the added weight on him for this catchweight fight at 160 pounds tonight did not suit him at all.

It only took away from him as a boxer, as we had warned going into the fight.

Spence looked to be not holding Tszyu’s punches as well as his Australian counterpart was absorbing his.

Tszyu looked stronger and fresher of the two fighters and had more speed on his punches at times.

Spence’s reflexes had gone it appeared as well and he was not the fighter of old.

Tim Tszyu opened up with straight right hands on Spence in the championship rounds in round 11.

Spence was holding on for dear life at times at this point.

In the end a short time ago Tim Tszyu won out by unanimous points decision tonight in boxing.

Effectively sending Errol Spence into retirement at this point.
