Errol Spence is finally back in the ring shortly in boxing after three years off all the way up at 158 pounds as well.
He takes on Tim Tszyu all the way in Australia later this month in the catchweight fight.
Three years on after losing by knockout to Terence Crawford.
Ryan Garcia is still looking to finalize and opponent and if Spence somehow managed to beat Tszyu, the two are still big names in US boxing.
Two fighters that could do big numbers in a fight but you would expect such a bout to only be able to happen at 154 pounds or so for fairness.
Here is a look at technically at how a fight might match up between the two American boxing stars:
- Relentless pressure and volume from Spence vs. explosive hand speed from Garcia
- Spence’s powerful ramrod jab would likely dominate the jab battle and control range
- Garcia’s devastating left hook is his biggest threat against Spence’s limited head movement
- Spence’s high ring IQ and adaptability give him a clear mental edge
- Garcia’s habit of pulling straight back with his chin up leaves him vulnerable to Spence’s straight shots
- Spence’s natural size and strength at 154 lbs would help him bully Garcia on the inside
- Spence breaks opponents down with two-fisted power; Garcia relies more on landing one big shot
- Spence’s relentless pace could test Garcia’s stamina over 12 rounds
- Garcia’s pre-fight mind games are unlikely to rattle the focused, disciplined Spence
- Spence could follow the blueprint he used against Mikey Garcia—using size, jab, and pressure to overwhelm a smaller skilled boxer
That was based on Errol Spence some years ago when he was up to par back in the day.
Ryan Garcia is more active in the sport these days and may fight someone, or try to at least, like Conor Benn or Devin Haney (again) in next up.
Something to consider though if Spence somehow managed to reel back the years and produce something spectacular later this month in Australia.
